The DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for transitioning Service Members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships. The program helps Service Members bridge the gap between end of service and the beginning of their civilian careers. The program offers an excellent benefit for Installation and Unit Commanders who have members nearing military separation. Commanders can greatly ease this transition to civilian life by supporting their Service Members' interest in the SkillBridge Program. The DoD SkillBridge Program is supported by the DoDI 1322.29 and NAVMC 1700.2.
