About Comic Con Okinawa
Comic Con Okinawa is the island's premier comic book convention for all things comics, cosplay, sci-fi, fantasy, manga and gaming hosted annually by MCCS Okinawa. The event is FREE and open to all DoD ID card holders, American and Japanese citizens island wide. Everyone is invited to join in on this epic celebration!
Since its first appearance in 2011, as a small promotional event held at the Camp Foster Library, Comic Con Okinawa has rapidly grown to capture the essence of some of the much larger conventions, held throughout the U.S. and Japan each year.
The event takes place every year in December throughout three venues on Camp Foster. The Fieldhouse hosts the Central Hub, the Community Center hosts the Gaming Hub and Globe & Anchor (inside Ocean Breeze) hosts the Q&A. The Community Center parking lot hosts MCCS food trucks & booths as well as the Kiddie Kingdom, which features various amusement rides.
What to Expect:
Gold Pass Exclusive (GPE) – Enjoy a memorable, exclusive Comic Con Okinawa experience with this limited pass. GPE includes entry to the pre-con social at Globe & Anchor, a swag bag, buffet and a chance to mingle with talent at the artist social. Pass holders get early entry to the main Comic Con Okinawa event with priority entry to talent booths for selfies and autographs (fees may apply), priority seating at discussion panels, tournaments, contests and performances as well as priority to ask questions during discussion panels. Registration takes place on Eventbrite in the fall.
Art Contest & Artist Alley – Showcase your favorite superhero, anime, manga, fantasy, sci-fi or cartoon character using any medium you like for a chance to be displayed at Comic Con Okinawa’s Artist Alley!
Cosplay – Comic Con Okinawa offers 3 cosplay events. The Cosplay Showcase is open to anyone looking to show off their costume. The Cosplay Workshop is open to anyone looking to learn about cosplay from industry talent. The Cosplay Competition is restricted to competitors over 16 years old that have created at least 70% of their cosplay using original materials, with prizes awarded.
Gaming – Comic Con Okinawa wouldn’t be complete without friendly, competitive gamers coming together to experience the joy of playing side-by-side in a celebration of fandom and fun. Event takes place at the Community Center and features Pro-Gamer Exhibitions, eSports Programs, PTC Tournaments and Free Play.
Talent – The MCCS Special Events team works hard to put together a line-up of talented industry artists including TV/film actors, voice actors, comic book/manga artists, special effects artists, gamers and cosplayers. Comic Con Okinawa 2024 included talented voice actors from popular franchises like Pokémon, Power Rangers, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and many more!
There are many opportunities to see and interact with talent during Comic Con Okinawa. Gold Pass Exclusive holders get to take part in a more intimate Q&A and interact with talent during the artist social hour the day before the main event. Comic Con Okinawa attendees will get to learn more about cosplay during the Cosplay Workshop (led by a cosplay artist), take part in several discussion panels, visit each talent’s booth for selfies and autographs (fees may apply) as well as purchasing merchandise.
Vendors – Registration takes place on Eventbrite in the fall. Includes 3x3m exhibitor space with booth panels, one table, two chairs, one trash bin, company name sign (900cm x 300cm), spotlight and access to power. Larger booth space available by reserving an additional booth or two.

What is MCCS Comic Con Okinawa?
MCCS Comic Con Okinawa is an admission FREE one-day comic and pop-culture convention event located on the military base Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan.
Who can attend Comic Con?
The main event is open to DoD ID card holders, American and Japanese citizens. For all other country nationals, please contact the MCB Butler Base Pass Office at 098-970-7519.
Where can I park?
DoD ID card holders may park at the parking lots near the event venues. Non-SOFA/Japanese citizens parking is available at the Camp Foster Flea Market lot located off Hwy. 58 from 9 a.m.–7 p.m. For more transportation options, download the MCCS Liberty app.
Do I need a ticket to attend Comic Con?
Although a ticket is not required to attend the main event, FREE Comic Con attendee badges with lanyards will be available on a first come first serve basis.
What is the Gold Pass Exclusive (GPE) and how do I purchase GPE ticket?

Can I attend in costume?
Yes! If attending in costume, please refer to the Cosplay Rules & Guidelines.
Will I be filmed or photographed?
Yes, MCCS reserves the right to record and use images/video which may be used in publications or other media material produced by MCCS.
Is this a child friendly/family friendly event?
Absolutely! No matter your age or favorite fandom, you’re welcome to attend as there are activities available for all!
What is Artist Alley?
Artist Alley is the magical place where industry artists and local artists gather to share their amazing artwork for you to peruse or purchase!
Is Fun Land free?
All-day wristbands are available for $5/¥800. This fee covers access to all Fun Land rides from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please note some rides have weight/height restrictions.
Will there be places to eat?
MCCS festival food favorites, food vendors and refreshments will be available.
Should I bring cash?
While many vendors may accept credit cards, it is recommended to bring cash (¥ and $). The nearest ATMs are located at Ocean Breeze, Bldg. 5906 and The Spot, Bldg. 200.
Where can I report or pick up lost items/person?
PMO and a medical tent will be located outside the Fieldhouse.
Staff Tips:
- You may be walking…A LOT. Wearing comfortable shoes is recommended.
- Okinawa weather is great all year long but can change quickly. Dress lightly but bring a light jacket in a backpack.
- Plan, plan, plan! There are so many different activities, it’s best to plan your day so you don’t miss out on special events such as meet & greets and tournaments.
- Bring a camera to take pictures and share on Instagram. Tag us @MCCSOki or use #okicon.
- Lastly, have fun and be safe! It can get crowded at events like this, so take it easy and give yourself time to replenish by hydrating and refueling with water, snacks and food.

Comic-Con wouldn’t be complete without friendly, competitive gaming matches. Join us at the Foster Community Center Auditorium for Pro-Gamer Exhibitions, eSports Program Gaming, Pokémon Trading Card matches, Free Play stations and more! gamers come together to experience the joy of playing side-by-side in a celebration of fandom and fun.
Pro Gamer Exhibitions – Taking the stage will be 3 Champion Guests who will show off their skills on Nintendo Switch’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and PlayStation 5’s Street Fighter 6. Confident you can beat the Champions? Contenders will be able to line-up (on a first come, first serve basis) and test their skills against the pros. Curious onlookers are welcome to sit back and watch the action unfold.
eSports Programs – The Kubasaki eSports team will have a table with PC gaming set ups. Kadena & Torii eSports Programs will also have tables with various gaming set ups.
Pokémon Trading Cards (PTC) – Prepare for a battle of strategy and luck with fellow Pokémon Trainers! Both Japanese and American cards will be welcome to join on the fun, with matches facilitated by a PTC expert.
Free Play – Multiple stations throughout the Community Center will be set up for Free Play gaming on Nintendo Switch, PS5 and iPads, with set-ups for various games.
Don’t miss out on the Comic Con exclusive drinks at Bonsai Coffee! Pick between the Button Masher (French Vanilla Latte) or the X-Treme Green (Green Tea & Peppermint Latte), both available in hot, iced or blended.

Jonah "DangerCat" Arkinson
10:30-11:30 a.m. & 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Jonah Arkinson, known as Danger Cat, is a gamer fueled by nostalgia who regularly plays video games from his childhood while rarely playing new games. He began playing Super Smash Bros. at the end of Brawls life but entered the competitive scene once SSB4 was released on the Wii U in 2014. Since then, he has entered competitions regularly, even competing against the best that the game has to offer.
After moving to Okinawa in 2017, on active-duty Air Force orders, he quickly made a name for himself at local events and on mainland Japan. He has become a regular member of the community and has competed all over Japan, making friends and taking some titles along the way. Being a senior member of the community in Okinawa he strives to create a bridge between the on-base Smash community and the Okinawan players with the ultimate goal of creating a Smash community that can unite over their love for the game.
Jeylen "Dialytics" Harper

Jeylen is a passionate gamer and streamer with a rich history in competitive gaming. His journey began with FPS titles on the Original Xbox and Xbox 360, but in 2011, his focus shifted dramatically when Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ignited his love for fighting games. A friendly rivalry with his cousin spurred him to hone his skills, transforming a casual interest into a serious pursuit.
In 2019, while stationed at his first military post, he entered and won his first competitive tournament in Mortal Kombat X, earning a PS4 and establishing his prowess. His arrival at Kadena Air Force Base in 2022 introduced him to a vibrant eSports scene, further fueling his dedication. With the release of Street Fighter 6 in 2023, Jeylen’s competitive drive was reignited, leading him to impressive placements, including a narrow 2nd place in the Kadena Championship Series. Unwavering in his goals, he has since dominated multiple local tournaments, securing his reputation as one of Kadena’s top players.
Wataru "J-Snake" Shinzato

Shinzato Wataru, better known as "J-Snake", is 34 years old and was born and raised in Okinawa. He is the most skilled, well-known and accomplished person in the Okinawa Smash Bros. scene. Not only does he compete in the Smash Bros. series, he also organizes tournaments to create a competitive arena and is committed to nurturing young players. In Smash Ultimate, he uses Wolf and Sora depending on the situation, and his solid playstyle allows him to handle any opponent.

Jonathan “Taiga” Hunt Jr.
Jonathan Hunt Jr. is a dedicated local tournament organizer for Kadena's fighting game community (FGC). His deep passion for competitive gaming has driven him to play a key role in nurturing the FGC through the Kadena eSports community, bridging the gap between Japanese and American players to host larger, more dynamic events. Taiga's high energy and enthusiasm will be on full display as one of the MCs for this year's Comic Con, where he'll bring the hype and excitement to the stage, delivering an unforgettable experience that embodies the true spirit of fighting games.

Elise Baughman
Elise Baughman is both a voice and on-camera actor, a TV host as well as a voiceover coach. She has voiced numerous characters in anime, animated series and video games, with her most popular role being Pan from the Dragon Ball universe.
Elise’s anime credits also include series like Fruits Basket (Original and Reboot), Yu Yu Hakusho, Case Closed/Detective Conan, Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable, Bye, Bye Earth and many more! Her video game credits include Paladins, SMITE, Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel, Aeon Flux, Romancing Saga, among others. Elise also voiced the character of Mom Baxter in the animated series Boz the Bear—by the Emmy Award-winning producers of Barney.
She also hosts the YouTube show Anime Adventures with Elise where she interviews her fellow anime voice actors and others as she travels the world going to comic conventions and anime conventions.
Jeremy Clark
Jeremy Clark is a professional comic book inker working for major publishing companies such as DC, Image, IDW, Boom, Dynamite, Coffin Comics, Aftershock, Titan, Source Point Press, Scout, Zenescope and many more. Over the last decade, Ben has been published on various comic projects that include childhood favorites and legendary licenses such as Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, Gargoyles, Blade Runner and more!

Aly Martinez, better known as the pop-culture content creator TTREKKIE, is a Comic-Con enthusiast, cosplayer, podcaster, panelist, and host. She has attended and participated in conventions such as WonderCon Anaheim, San Diego Comic-Con, Los Angeles Comic-Con, Wizard World Chicago, Star Trek Las Vegas, and more!
Aly has been the main emcee/host of Comic-Con Okinawa for the past three years, and while she has many pop-culture interests, Star Trek has always held a special place in her heart. She is passionate about promoting and connecting convention fans by living out her motto: "Make Your Fandom Your Own".

Wayne Grayson is an American voice actor and director known for his work at 4Kids Entertainment. Kodai Yoshizawa | 吉沢 広大
Kodai Yoshizawa is a Japanese sculptor, makeup and special effects artist. After working freelance for various film studios in the United States, he became one of the core artists at Fractured FX Inc., where he utilizes sculpting skills in both traditional and digital aspects. He has worked on major films and televisions shows such as Rebel Moon, Aquaman, Army of the Dead and Stranger Things. In 2015, he was nominated for a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for his work on The Knick.

Meisha Mock | ミーシャ モック
Meisha Mock is a distinguished fine artist and cosplayer. Her journey into cosplay began in 2014, inspired by the challenge of transforming 2D characters into tangible 3D forms. Her exceptional craftsmanship quickly garnered attention, beginning with her detailed portrayal of Princess Mononoke. Her innovative renderings and meticulous attention to detail have set her apart in both the cosplay and art communities. She has collaborated with renowned companies such as Bandai Namco and Bose and has represented the United States at the international cosplay competition in Monaco. In recent years, Meisha has shifted her focus to her Shrine Masks—distinctive fine art pieces meticulously hand-sculpted, cast, painted and adorned with fur, capturing the essence of the animal spirit—that serve as both wearable and displayable art.

Muyun | むゆん
A Japanese cosplayer and YouTuber, Muyun has always been a shounen manga fan and has been dressing up as male characters for five years. Muyun has garnered over 100,000 subscribers on the YouTube channel, “Muyun’s Room,” where audiences can find cosplay how-to videos and scenes from overseas cosplay events.

C:hoS (pronounced “Chosu”) is a Japanese model, cosplayer, YouTuber and antique jewelry shop owner. Her username has a smiley face (C:) so that she can always remind herself and others to smile. On her YouTube channel, “C:hoS,” audiences can find a peek into her van life and travels around mainland Japan.
C:hoS(チョス)は、日本のモデル、コスプレイヤー、YouTuber、アンティークジュエリーショップのオーナーです。ユーザー名にはスマイリーフェイス(C:)が使われており、自分自身や周りの人にいつも笑顔でいられるようにしています。彼女のYouTubeチャンネル「C:hoS」では、視聴者は彼女のバンライフや日本本土を旅する様子を垣間見ることができます。
Laura Braga | ローラ・ブラーガー
Laura Braga is an Italian comic book artist best known for her work on Future State: The Next Batman, written by Oscar-winning screenwriter John Ridley. She entered the US comic book industry in 2012, working for Top Cow Productions in the Witchblade comic book series. Since then, she has worked for Marvel Comics (Superior Iron Man, Captain Marvel, The Punisher, Dazzler and Star Wars), Archie Comics, DC Comics (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Supergirl, Green Arrow and Bombshells), Dynamite Comics and Titan Comics. In 2022 she was chosen to be the artist of the Free Comic Book Day 2023 illustration.

Art Contest
Showcase your favorite superhero, anime, manga, fantasy, sci-fi or cartoon character using any medium you like for a chance to be displayed at Comic Con!
CONTEST RULES:
- Only ONE entry per artist.
- All skill levels are welcome—do your best!
- Artwork should be no larger than 11x17 inches, portrait or vertical.
- MUST be on paper or cardstock (NO heavy canvas, brick, steel, wood, lead or similar materials, as we are unable to display them for viewing).
- Contest ends on November 24 and finalists will be announced in December
- NO graphic adult depictions or excessive gore, as this is a family event; entries will be checked for appropriateness by MCCS staff.
- If selected as a finalist, you must bring the physical copy of your artwork to MCCS Entertainment.

The Cosplay Competition is restricted to competitors over 16 years old (both SOFA and non-SOFA) that have created at least 70% of their costume using original materials. Test your cosplay and crafting skills in a serious cosplay competition! This is an individual cosplay competition(group costumes are not allowed). Competitors can only enter once and only wear one costume per competition.
- Needlework - Cosplay constructed primarily through sewing, stitching, embroidery, etc.
- Armor - Cosplay constructed primarily by molding and shaping the costume’s outer layers using acrylic, EVA foam, Worbla, Wonderflex, cardboard, etc.
- FX - Cosplay that primarily features animatronics, optical effects, mechanical effects, special effects makeup, prosthetics, etc.

かた両方)参加できるイベントです。ショーケースは、コンテストと同じルールに制限
されません。
コスプレコンテスト
コスプレコンテストは、16 歳以上(SOFA/SOFA ではないかた両方)で、衣装の少なく
とも 70%をオリジナルの素材で作成した参加者に限定されます。本格的なコスプレコ
ンテンツで、コスプレと製作のスキルを試してください。これは個人コスプレコンテス
トです(グループコスチュームは許可されていません)。参加者は 1 回のみ参加でき、1
回のコンテストにつき 1 つの衣装のみを着用できます。
コスプレコンテストアワード
以下の各カテゴリーの審査員のランキングに基づいて賞が授与されます:
- 裁縫 - 主に裁縫、ステッチ、刺繍などによって作られたコスプレ。
- 鎧 - 主にアクリル、EVA フォーム、Worbla、Wonderflex、段ボールなどを使用して衣装
の外側の層を成形して作られたコスプレ。
- FX - 主にアニマトロニクス、光学効果、機械効果、特殊効果メイク、特殊義装具など
を特徴とするコスプレ。
最優秀賞
審査員の累計スコアに基づいて各カテゴリーから勝者が選出されます。
* 参加した出場者は、他のカテゴリーや最優秀賞を獲得することはできません。 出場者
は、コスプレ チャンピオンシップのルールに従い、自分で制作した作品が既定の割合
である必要があります。
