The Long Term Assistance Program is a permanent resource for next of kin, ensuring families receive sustained, quality support from the Marine Corps. The program was established to provide outreach and assistance to Marine families navigating residual issues commonly associated with death benefits, entitlements, and other related matters.

Services

  • Assists with the care and movement of remains.
  • Connects family members with grief and peer support resources, such as the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). TAPS services are available at no cost, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and provide peer-based emotional support, crisis response and intervention, and grief and trauma support.
  • Provides a comprehensive benefits and entitlements printout through the Armed Forces Services Corporation to help families make informed decisions regarding their circumstances.
  • Assists next of kin in obtaining access to investigative reports and connecting with benevolent and philanthropic organizations.
  • Connects families with the support and resources they need. Assistance is available indefinitely to the next of kin of deceased Marines and deceased Marine family members.
