Prevention & Education


FAP Prevention & Education Specialists provide educational classes, training, and skill-building briefs to units, commands, community organizations, and SOFA personnel. Topics include communication enhancement, healthy relationships, positive parenting, domestic violence and child abuse identification and reporting, problematic sexual behavior in children and youth, and anger and stress management.

New Supervision Guidelines

FAP/Incident Determination Committee (IDC) Training

This training is mandatory for all unit commanders to receive within 90 days of assuming command (per MCO 1754.11A) and certifies attendees as a voting member at the Incident Determination Committee meetings. MCO 1754.11A (Family Advocacy) requires that each command have a primary and alternate (Secondary) officer appointed as a voting member for the IDC. 

Please note that even if your command has a designated voting representative, it is still mandatory that both the CO and XO receive this training within 90 days of assuming command and annually thereafter.
 
‘Initial’ and ‘Refresher’ FAP/IDC Training are held every second Thursday of the month, located at, Camp Foster, Ocean Breeze, Southern Breeze Conference room. 
  • Initial Training: 8–11:30 a.m.
  • Refresher Training  - 9:30–11:30 a.m.
Training seats are limited to the first 20 respondents. If you would like to reserve your spot for this training, please send an email to fapprevention@usmc.mil.
 
We kindly request a copy of your appointment letter to be emailed to fapprevention@usmc.mil prior to your training date.
